When Starting a Business You Need to Ask Yourself These Questions

Anyone who is thinking of starting a business really needs to sit down and ask yourself a handful of questions. I will get to these questions but I first want to explain the reason you should be asking yourself these questions and why it is beneficial.

Abraham Lincoln once said "if you give me 2 hours to chop down a tree, I'm going to spend the first hour sharpening my axe"

I am in 100% agreeance with this saying, and I think that they are trying to get the point across that you really want to build a strong foundation for your business to be built on.  If you fully understand what it is that you are trying to accomplish, and understand where you are at and where you would like to be, and have a plan or strategy to get there you are so much better of building your business for the long run.

So I would say we need to have a good laid out plan of where, you are at, where you would like to be, and how you are going to get there and you have such a better shot at success with your business.

I am going to go ahead and list the questions below, however in future posts I will show you what my exact business plan looks like.

1    What is my current situation?
Why do I plan to do what I am going to do?
      What is my Why?
What are my expectations for this business?
What are the platforms I plan to publish in?
What projects do I plan to create?
How will I monetize on these platforms?
What can I do today to take action towards my goal?
How much time can I contribute to this business each day?
How am I going to get people to look at my content?
How am I going to get people to buy my projects?
What things will I need to make this business run?  like tools? Office equipment?
Where am I educating myself to make sure I continue to grow?
Will I go into business with a partner, or by myself?

There are so many more questions, as we could go on forever but you don't have to have everything figured out 100%, you just need to have enough down to know where you currently are, and where you want to end up.  I would love to recommend a couple of books that have helped me in my current situation figure out what I would like to do, and how I finally pulled the trigger to start making some progress.

Here is a book that I think is a must read for anyone starting a business and really covers exactly what I just spoke about throughout this post.  The book is called Ready, Fire, Aim by Michael Masterson

Here are a few more books that will also help with getting your mind right and your plan in order to become a successful business owner.

Stay tuned to my next post, I will break down my plan and exactly how I have come up with a business plan and remember your walking through it all with me as I go so you can ultimately see how successful it will be.
